0.1 – Introduction and About Me

I would like to share some of the thoughts I have – obviously, huh?, since that’s the point of having a blog – as I attempt to resurrect this website.

It has been almost a year since I all but abandoned my website- when the laptop which I used to research, write, and store my work was stolen.  The original purpose of Advocate4Change was to empower my readers to take advantage of the 2012 elections by 1) focusing primarily on vetting the candidates from many parties and starting in the primary season, but by 2) also trying to piece-apart the elections process from the state primaries to general election.  The time for that is long gone.

You deserve to know that I intended Advocate4Change to be a learning opportunity for me, as well.  While the new site will contribute in a similar manner, I’ve managed to learn quite a bit in the meantime.

So it follows that Advocate4Change’s re-emergence from the gooey depths of dismal neglect and disuse would experience a change of purpose to match the change in form.  For the time being, Advocate4Change will serve as a library for liberty-oriented media and a topical forum for peaceful solutions.

Remember: no matter the question, freedom is the answer.

About the Author

I am Me.  Myself.  I.  You can call me Mike.

I am an individual of my own mind- a mind which has sole control over this body so long as none have control over my mind.

I am an American citizen of well over three generations on both sides of my divorced family.

I am like most everyone else in that I have siblings by blood, but unlike many in that my brother and sister have no blood relation to each other.

I am an atheist.  That means I am OK in the knowledge that the characteristics of deities are diametrically opposed to the traits of existence.  Less-than-coincidentally, I don’t believe in the benevolence of government or magic (except in the sense that it virtually exists through the creation of virtual worlds), either.

I am a white male, whiter still because I work night audits at a hotel.  I’ve been born since the racial rights movements of the ’60s and ’70s and was raised by a single mother during the push for women’s rights through the ’80s.

I love Pink Floyd.  And the spirit of free choice found in heartfelt creativity.

I am a college drop-out and no one you’d find in Who’s Who.  But my need to know more, my need for new information, my need to expand my mental horizon will never diminish.

I am influenced and inspired by Ayn Rand, George Orwell, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Victor Hugo, and sci-fi.

Sci-fi: Robert Heinlein (TANSTAAFL), Frank Herbert, John Scalzi (oh, glorious newb!).

Madeleine L’Engle and C.S. Lewis tended to my young spirit.

I move to Jack Johnson, both C.C.R.s (Creedance Clearwater and Cross Canadian), Easy Star All-Stars, The Beatles, Loreena McKinnett, Third Eye Blind, The Doobie Bros., Neil Diamond, Incubus, “The Fake Sound of Progress,” and Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young.

I don’t pay a cable or satellite bill because I see no reason to pay for nuisance TV shows and commercials while scheduling the rest of my life around the shows I do watch. In the long run, DVDs are cheaper and last longer.

I do watch: House MD, both Full Metal Alchemists, Breaking Bad, FLCL, Dexter, Futurama, and Arrested Development.

Movies are hit-and-miss.  They tend not to provide enough storyline to satisfy me- same reason I’m not big on short stories.

I habitually listen to podcasts.

I am 27.

And I will add more as time goes on.
